Tom,  Yeah, that command line is much like the one you posted, expect
that I had to ad the nowaveheader to avoid an annoying pop between
songs.  The popo was being caused by the header getting passed by the
commands you used...  It probably depends on what hardware you are
streaming to in whether or not the popping is an issue.

IPGuy.  I agree with Tom's assessment that using faad might be the best
thing if you only use AAC files...  On the other hand if you only use
Apple Lossless, then you'll need the ALAC decoder. 

If you use both (like me), the only way I know to get it to work is to
use mplayer.  Since mplayer changes often as updated decoders for
different formats get included, the version can matter greatly.  Did
you compile from scratch or you a pre-compiled version of mplayer? 
Which version?  It could be that you are using an older version which
doesn't have aac/lossless encoders that work fully.
