Background: Everything running great under Mandriva. Moved to Kubuntu a
couple of months ago. At the time I installed slimserver manually
according to some instructions floating around the net. That never
quite worked perfectly (some weird issues), but it was good enough.
Today: I saw these new debian packages, so I wiped out the old
installation and deleted the old slimuser. I did an apt-get install
slimserver and everything went smooth as silk. I'm now running 6.5b1.
The trouble is that the library scan only found about 60% of my CDs.
Something isn't quite right, and now I'm trying to figure out how to
debug things.
This is kind of a stupid question, but how can I debug slimserver?
Under Mandriva I could just "su root" and then "su slimserver" and
launch slimserver with some debug flags. But now, because of how things
are set up in Ubuntu, I can't seem to become user "slimserver" to
manually launch the slimserver ("su slimserver" from root doesn't
work). Anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks - J
