This, to me, indicates a problem with the rpm database. In
theory - someone correct me if I'm wrong - you can do the
following as root and probably fix the problem above:
rm /var/lib/rpm/__db*
rpm --rebuilddb
That should rebuild your rpm database (it'll take a little bit)
and clean up any cruft from bad installations.
