I think a number of us here would be really, really curious to
find out how slimserver is able to write to something that
should have a fair amount of access protection.
If you do a "dpkg -L" of the slimserver package, you'll see that
it's not as if it *overwrote* anything that would cause this
problem. The implication, therefore, must be that the slim perl
scripts themselves are doing it. Start your machine without
starting slim and see if it happens. If it continues to be a
problem, I'd stop looking at slim as the problem.
I realize this is an awfully simplistic review, but I can't
imagine how slim is the culprit in this instance.
