ClarkConnect is more specialized - I'd use it instead of a NAS, for example. But on this particular machine I wanted a full-fledged desktop OS. ClarkConnect is not a desktop OS. I used to think of it as a firewall/gateway OS but it's really a server OS now, I'm using SmoothWall on an old, old machine as a firewall/gateway OS. Incidentally it was my positive experiences with SmoothWall plus getting some experience with the command-line that wanted me to try a desktop Linux OS. Ubuntu is #1 most viewed on Distrowatch, it's very, very well documented and has very active forums. It also uses GNOME by default which looks really nice. I guess I associate KDE with all those half-functioning distros I tried years ago. -- Mark Lanctot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27155 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
