I agree with you, it doesn't make sense if it did, but that's the only
change I made.

Haven't been on the machine in a while but I'll check later.

I believe Ubuntu uses this by default - I have an /etc/resolvconf
directory with several subfolders.  The run directory in here contains
the actual resolv.conf file.
