Well I took the plunge and installed freespire to my HDD. Now I find that the external USB2 HDD (NTFS) containing the music library comes up automatically, but is only accessible by root. Now I am trying to figure out how to permanently change the owner of the drive so I can run slimserver under some other user login instead of root, and so it will come back up as desired when I reboot (as much as I hate to, I will have to use windoze once in a while).
