Uhm right. So maybe it's FAAD2 anyways?

I was using faad2 2.0-r13 (from gentoo's ~x86 portage tree)

I tried to compile faad2.5 but the tarball must be wanky, cause it
won't compile on my gentoo system. It keeps complaining about a missing
bitmap folder.

I managed to find the bug you're referring to but that was closed in
May so I would've figured it to be fixed by now... :-/

Well, doesn't seem like it is... this may be because I don't have xmms
or something on the system but I really don't feel like installing
"more crap" to test theories... 

the autoreconf and configure thingies keep looking for the xmms and bmp
directories... :-/
