It's been a long couple of days...

My original Solaris install was only to test how well running
SlimServer on Solaris would go. I never quite got SlimServer and MySQL
working when my new hard drive arrived (I was using a 13GB originally).
In went the 250GB and I reinstalled Solaris...

The second time I decided I would use a newer version of MySQL that was
precompiled from the MySQL website. Bad idea! The perl modules
wouldn't compile and I even ran into a situation where the Sun Studio
compiler failed. I tried to build MySQL from source but that was
another big mess and after realizing I had a lot of MySQL here, there,
and everywhere in the filesystem I wiped everything clean and decided
to use the version of MySQL that came with Solaris.

I built perl with Sun Studio 11 and so far have everything working,
except I get an error about SQL syntax. The error I get is:

2007-02-10 20:27:47.4629 Warning: Migrating from 6.3.x used with
MySQL!
Database error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual
that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to
use near 'COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci' at line 8 at
/usr/local/slimserver/CPAN/DBIx/Migration.pm line 115.
2007-02-10 20:27:47.5752 ERROR: forceCommit: Trying to commit
transactions before DB is initialized!

I'm not a programmer nor am I that familiar with MySQL (everything I've
learned has pretty much been to get it to work with SlimServer). I'm
lost on this one. Any ideas?
