Yes.  At least that's what happens on SUSE.  :-)

The RPM is actually saving the slimserver init script into
/etc/rc.d/init.d.  SUSE softlinks /etc/rc.d to /etc/init.d for
compatibility with older scripts that still use "rc.d" paths.  

Anyhow, you can ignore that directory, as all it contains is the RedHat
version of the init script, which you will not be using.
