Pat and Bukharin:

Thanks for your thoughts. Below are my reactions.

Maybe I should reconsider, but my reasons were: (1) lower power
consumption, (2) small footprint so can keep on top of stereo cabinet
and can browse music using the web interface, and (3) ability to unplug
and browse music and check out lyrics etc. from my listening position.

I currently use a laptop in the exact same configuration as I propose
for the new laptop. I have not had problems with bandwidth, probably
because the laptop is not more than 20 feet from the dsl router.

I suppose an alternative would be a small quiet desktop hidden in the
stereo cabinet, perhaps using a Nokia N800 Internet Tablet PC or
similar device to control it. How do you feel about that possibility?

How power efficient would this be relative to a laptop? Is there a
standard spec I can reference to answer this question for myself?

Are you referring to ease of setup or actual performance once set up
properly?

This sounds interesting. Did a quick web search. Did you build your
own system starting with this motherboard, or did you buy the system.
In either case, may I ask what is included in the box? In lieu of a
monitor and keyboard, could it be controlled with the Nokia N800
Internet Tablet PC or something similar? How do you control yours?

See above.

ThatÂ’s good to know!

Thanks to both of you,
Randy
