IIRC leave everything as distributed - the changes to the prefs file are
necessary to connected to a MySqld which servers more than just
slimserver.

The file my.tt in Slimserver/MySql is the template for the my.cnf file
which will be created in the cache direcory. I think there is something
to do with sockets to set up but it will become obvious once you try to
get slimserver going.

If you have problems getting mysqld going look at the my.cnf settings -
but change the settings you need by changing the my.tt file and then
deleting the my.cnf.  MySql Errors will be logged to a file
mysql-error-log.txt in the cache directory.
