mgh -- if your Squeezebox doesn't find your Slimserver instance and display a "Connect to hostname (1.2.3.4)" option when you hold the left arrow, then it's probably firewall software on the Slimserver host that's the root of the problem. You need to allow connections to three different port/protocols, as indicated at the bottom of this page: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?SlimserverOnMandrivaLinuxLE2005 Check on the Ubuntu forums and wiki for information on how to do that -- since I use my own firewall scripts, I can't tell you how that's best done. -Peter -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ free plugins: http://www.tux.org/~peterw/#slim BlankSaver BottleRocket FuzzyTime SaverSwitcher SleepFade StatusFirst VolumeLock ------------------------------------------------------------------------ peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35417 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
