If you are happy with your choice, just pick one and use it. In any case, you should put your music in a separate partition from the operating system. Then you can change the OS without touching your music. I run debian for my slimserver. It does not have all the features that Ubuntu has, but all Ubuntu is derived from debian. One man's features is another's bloatware.
