Although I agree with you 100%, I still find your statement amusing.... 8 or 9 years ago, people insisted Debian was too hard for beginners, which I never understood.. the installer then wasn't pretty, but it did work fine and didn't do anything really complex, and apt.. as long as you stick to stable is wonderful... no more dependency hell.
