etherwake is an application you would get from the Ubuntu repository via
apt-get or synaptic or (Google ) install that on the  laptop (was it
that one with Linux).

Open a terminal and:

~$ sudo etherwake XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

replace the X'es with your servers MAC adress

There also numerous small windows apps aviable if you google
