The Inguz Plugin is written for Windows, the Linux installation is
possible but a bit painful. It uses a custom convolver (written with
.NET, so the reason for windows) to filter the audion streams. This
software is not free, some day Inguz may charge a fee for using the
plugin. I am a Linux user and do not want to install .NET emulation on
my PC that uses the whole processing power streaming some audio (I am
working on the same box) and I like open source software and freeware.
Therefor I followed the suggestions in this forum to use brutefir under
linux together with DRC (see link in first post) to do room correction
for free.
So now the back to answer your question: the plugin is inspired by
InguzEQ, but uses Brutefir as convolver. It targets Linux systems only
(maybe brutefir works under other OS, I have not check it). It should
do the same, right now it has not as many features as the Inguz Plugin.
The main differences are:
- it is a pure convenience frontend and does not support filter
generation, room measurement and this like
- brutefir has a very small CPU and memory footprint on Linux, much
better than Inguz .NET convolver
- with brutefir you can't have real gapless playback (right now I have
a 0.2 second gap between tracks, this is quite fast and I have 15 %
load on my CPU for the whole DRC stuff, for half the load I can have
playback with 0.5 second gap on a 4200+ dual Core AMD64) with Inguz you
can have complete gapless playback (at least it is stated)

Baseline: it is a change of the convolver, because a lot of Linux
people are using brutefir and thought it would be great to use the
InguzEQ as frontend. I am no Perl wiz, so I had to completely start
from scratch, it would have been better to refactor InguzEQ but it
would have been very difficult because the software underneath has a
very different interface.
