Not sure why you would need to re-install at all, but try this first:

> sudo /etc/init.d/squeezecenter restart

If that doesn't work then:

> sudo apt-get --purge remove squeezecenter

This will remove your config files as well.  Then re-install with:

> sudo apt-get update
> sudo apt-get install squeezecenter

Do you have any other web-based services (i.e. webmin) enabled that you
could test to see if they are functioning properly?
