Hello,

I have been running Slimserver for quite some time
until today it complained about needing YAML::Syck.
The perl script to build stuff did not work: the file was not at the
url given, even after fixing that it didn't build (for otehr stuff).
So let's try squeezecenter.
This is installed via rpm.
It's no longer isolated in /usr/local but puts the files all over the
system.

On startup this brand new install asks for perl modules to be built:
JSON::XS YAML::Syck GD
Why aren't these in the rpm?

After building these it asks for GD. I try to build that one:
# /usr/share/squeezecenter/Bin/build-perl-modules.pl GD
Welcome to the Slim Devices perl module installer.

These packages are needed for SqueezeCenter to function.
You will need a C compiler (gcc), make, and perl installed.

You will need development libraries for MySQL. eg: libmysqlclient

You will need development libraries for expat. eg: libexpat1-dev

*** Ignore any warnings about AppConfig. ***

Please enter a perl binary to use (defaults to /usr/bin/perl)
This must be the same perl binary that you ran this program with -->
Please enter the path to your SqueezeCenter directory (ex:
/usr/local/slimserver) --> /usr/share/squeezecenter
Please enter a directory to download files to --> /home
Downloads will use lwp to fetch tarballs.
All done!

So nothing happens. When trying to start squeezecenter it again asks
for GD.
So now nothing works.

This is on a Fedora 9 x86_64 box which ran slimserver quite OK.
Why o why the sudden problems?
And how do I fix them?
And will the rpm be fixed?

Kind regards,
Udo
