SC 7.0.x and earlier won't run on Fedora 9 because ver 9 uses Perl 5.10. Supporting this version required some changes to code and some different support libraries (I think.) Andy has stated that these changes won't make it into the 7.0.x branch.
So, if you want to run Fedora 9, you are stuck with using the "trunk" 7.1 releases for now. Since 7.2 is slated for an August release, 7.1 will most likely be released sometime before that. I don't really know, of course, but there may be a chance that the next version released will end up being 7.2. The "trunk" nightly releases have always included daily additions to the code that are not thoroughly tested, and thus the trunk releases are considered 'unstable'. In fact, I've been running 7.1 for almost two months and haven't run into any problems. So I'd say that you're relatively safe installing 7.1. If you run into problems with it, keep installing newer nightlies until the problem is resolved and then stick with that version, until the official release comes out. At this moment, I don't think there are any real differences between the 7.1, 7.2 & 7.3 trunk releases. My understanding is that this will change sometime in the not-too-distant future, with 7.2 sporting new code to allow for playing audio on the SBC and with 7.3 sporting a new database schema. -- gharris999 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48956 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
