Hi bpa,
Thanks for the reply.  
It affected all wma streams, even on those that plays normally with
"native" support.  The streams also played with no problem for a couple
of hours with MPlayer.  Looks like the problem is not at the source or
network.

With my observation so far, the problem seems more to do with the
passing of the audio streams from SC to MPlayer; from MPlayer to flac;
or from flac to softsqueeze/SB3.  Of interest is there is no problem
with 64bit Ubuntu.  Would the audio driver play a role here?
