I use all mostly FLACs but with some MP3s. It was with the FLACs that we noticed the sound improvement. I think the previous installation was suffering some hardware problems and I used to get frequent music stops, glitches on playback, etc. I can't really explain it.
I'm happy now though, this Linux installation on up to date hardware is far better! Web and controller access is fast and responsive.
