That's impressive. This is in soft-off state (S5) I assume, right ? Then can you tell me (us) how long it takes approximately from the WOL frames to a functional SB menu ?
My box was shutting down before I started integrating SB players. I thought that about 2 full minutes from shutdown to fully operational state was way too long for user interaction via the SB remote control. So I painfully switched to ACPI and suspend to ram; now the server is back in about 5 seconds. It draws 13 Watts when suspended-to-ram, but in soft-off it was also drawing 13W... I hate s2disk. I had countless swap partition or filesystem corruptions, and hangs at boot. I did not register a definitive speed advantage using s2disk vs. a cold boot, whereas s2ram really changes the game. I guess both can be difficult to make reliable. For me s2ram was a nightmare but at least it was worth it. BTW, on one board I tested with (geforce 6100 integrated graphics), I couldn't get s2ram to work unless I had loaded X11 and the nvidia drivers. Pretty silly for a headless server, but it looks like in general achieving s2ram in console mode is actually harder than in graphical mode. The Intel GMA board I use not suspends in console mode. -- epoch1970 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54091 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
