If I round up my current usage on my USB drive, I have 5 GB free, so I should get quite a bit more than 5 years. 5 GB being 5 times what you calculated gives me 25 years, or 10 years given your conservative estimate. I can live with that.
By then, my 8 GB USB thumb drive will be what a 1.44MB floppy is today - relatively useless. Perhaps I'll be carrying my lossless collection on my 1TB thumb drive.
