I noticed that feature with Ubuntu. I'm not sure why it is treated as a special scenario since I was able to install SuSE on my thumb drive in the same way I would have a hard drive. Perhaps Ubuntu will do a minimal install and disable logging when installed on a USB key to maximize the life of the flash.
