Thanks for the suggestions. I've decided to leave the freenas as is for now. I bought a used Dell GX50 for $35 and I will put ubuntu on it with squeezecenter. I think I can figure out how to access the desktop remotely so that I can adjust the squeezecenter settings as needed.
