Just to say that as a complete Linux novice, I was able to install fedora 9 onto a USB stick (using Live USB on XP), install squeezecenter into Fedora on that stick, 'mount' my networked HD that has my music on it, connect to 2 slimp3s and get it all running off an HP 5720 thin client (that has embedded XP which I never even touched), all fairly painlessly.
Biggest problem was with ffmpeg which I needed because my ancient slimp3s did not have the ability to translate WMA into MP3s and I have yet to be able to work out (music skipped), but I got around that by re-ripping the few non-MP3s I had and it works just fine (also with some v helpful comments from these boards. I am still impressed - with the set up, not at my capabilities :) And it all sounds fine to my ears. Enjoy and have fun. -- bouton ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bouton's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=539 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54842 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
