Boot with an Ubuntu CD. There's a neat tool called dd that can do
direct byte for byte copies. If the cards are identical in size you
can do this:

dd if=/dev/DEVICE-OF-ORIGINAL of=/dev/DEVICE-OF-BACKUP

You can also make a backup to a file the same way:

dd if=/dev/DEVICE-OF-ORIGINAL of=/home/user/BACKUP.dat

You can even compress the output

dd if=/dev/DEVICE-OF-ORIGINAL | bzip2 -c - > /home/user/BACKUP.dat.bz2
