I finally got some time to invest in solving that issue. Turns out that I am running MusicIP and had the following config for Squeezecenter:
1- Path to Music folder empty 2- MusicIP plugin configured to take Title, Artist and genre from MusicIP. I changed the plugin config to: 1- Path to Music folder now set to my Music folder 2- MusicIP plugin set to only get from MusicIP the mixable status of a song It takes a large amount of time to rescan, but it works.
