Executing the steps was OK except that the ifcfg-eth0 file was not where you predicted. I edited the one I found.
update Fedora worked; Ping worked; Reset on SB worked; Update Firmware worked; it all worked. But still nothing works. No music. I believe having done all that I need to reset the connection info in the SB because of the Reset. So, Now I get on Select a source: No Squeezecenter found. So this can't be good. The other options are Enter IP address for Squeezecenter. I don't have a clue what that means. Or whether that is what I want or should do. The third option is Connect to Squeezenetwork. I don't know what that means either, but I don't think I'll get my music with that option. I feel I am getting close. I went through much of this 4 years ago setting up Squeezebox with Slimserver on my PC Windows network. This is similar but a bit more involved. Thanks for all the lights that are on in this tunnel. I really appreciate it.
