Logitech's nightly build process used to create a .deb and tarball, as suggested by the labels at http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.4 -- but I only tried the .deb once, and couldn't get it to run. I think Logitech would appreciate any help you could give them on stabilizing that build process. SqueezePlay desktop seems a rather low priority right now, and the Linux builds are lower priority than Windows and MacOS (sad when you consider that the new generation of Squeezeboxes run Linux). I'd love to see - a freely redistributable virtual machine snapshot that would be a viable build environment for SqueezePlay and SqueezeOS. Ideally you'd fire up the VM in VMWare Server or VirtualBox, log in, and run one command to check out the latest SqueezePlay/SqueezeOS source code (since that cannot be freely redistributed). - .deb (and .rpm?) packages that use the .deb and .rpm dependency mechanisms to make downloading the needed dev packages automatic with apt-get and yum, and install simple scripts (perhaps to be executed in the package post-install step!) for checking out the SVN source -- so if you already have a Linux install or .iso, you could install one simple package to get up & running. There are wiki pages on building SqueezePlay -- start at http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezePlay_Build_Instructions -- but they seem largely abandoned, especially the Linux pages. Again, I think that's weird, as surely the SqueezeOS developers are using Linux build environments. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ free plugins: http://www.tux.org/~peterw/#slim AllQuiet AutoDisplay'*' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html#credit) BlankSaver ContextMenu FuzzyTime KidsPlay KitchenTimer PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock ------------------------------------------------------------------------ peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70556 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
