Before my wife fell in love with the iTunes store and it's DRM
encumbered tracks I had two instances of SlimServer, yes, SlimServer
running on my Solaris 10 box. I used virtualization to do it. This
kept our respective libraries separate. To keep overhead down, I used
only one instance of MySQL running in the global zone (which also had
my SlimServer instance) and had the other zone's SlimServer configured
to use a different database in MySQL.

Worked really well until the DRM arrived.
