After straightening out the conflict between the expected and permitted network addresses of the squeezeboxserver browser interface, (see previous discussion) I find performance of squeezeboxserver on Ubuntu 10.04 is very good. This version of Ubuntu has made some significant enhancements in the performance of my amd64 platform, and the squeezeboxserver interface is very responsive.
Softsqueeze works much better for me as well, although I find it is very important to download and use the current sun java with the proprietary mp3 decoder (recommended by Softsqueeze author) - this makes a big difference in the sound and in the behavior of the softsqueeze interface. The decoder filename is mp3plugin.jar, and in Ubuntu it goes in usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20/jre/lib/ext. -- rkerr ------------------------------------------------------------------------ rkerr's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8784 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77971 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
