Hello. I'm at the stage where I need a dedicated SBS server, and I'd
like to try some variant of Linux on it. I've got an old PC that I'd
like to use, but before I start hours of research can I just ping a few
beginner's questions out? Thereafter I promise to read everything I can
on Linux! I'm very new to this but willing to learn...

1. My box is an old Dell Core2Duo, with SATA connections for drives on
the board and integrated NIC card. Useable?

2. I plan to keep the "originals" of my music on my Windows machine,
and use my backup software to keep an up-to-date copy on this new Linux
machine. Possible?

3. Do all 3rd party plug-ins function on SBS under Linux?

4. How's SBS under Linux with Apple Lossless?

5. Can anyone recommend a good up-to-date "complete beginner's" guide
to installing Linux? The ones I've found from searching the web seem
to talk about IDE and are dated several years ago.

6. Wake on LAN possible via SBĀ£/Boom connected to Linux server?

7. Finally, what flavour of Linux? I'm thinking one of the flavours
that appears in the Nightly list would be sensible?

Thanks in advance!
