I have built a mini-ITX using the advice in http://www.ulverston.myzen.co.uk/mini-itx/index.htm and got as far as loading ClearOS.
Before I can set-up the server with Squeeze and as a music/data repository, I wish to set it up to boot from Compact Flash (CF) - the case has a CF slot - so that I can reserve the two 2.5" drives as music/data stores which act as disaster recovery for each other. Per the advice in http://www.ulverston.myzen.co.uk/mini-itx/index.htm I will also spin the discs down when idle to save on noise, heat and power (my mini-ITX board is fanless). I have read everything I can find on setting up the CF but, as a -complete- Linux novice I am at sea - all of the pointers I have seen presume a level of competence/familiarity which is greater than my one day of experience. Is anyone able to advise (or point to) the steps to preparing the CF, moving the kernel and other appropriate actions, per chance? Thanks. -- Shellness ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Shellness's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17122 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78594 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
