I would agree - it makes little sense. I very quickly hooked up my USB
drives to my Ubuntu 10.10 text box. Certainly it appears to be 'format
& forget' for ext4 - there are no options that I could really see that
might be tweaked etc. 

Only thing I can suggest is I try to run a comparable test. I have a
spare disk in my test box (SATA connection) that I could format as EXT4
& NTFS and run some SBS scans. That will take a while as I don't even
have SBS on that box at the moment - but if it would help, I could try
it.
