Hi ya! In the old days you used to install linux then add X-windows and set up config files and pray as you hit startx. Anyway I was wondering if I can get an old celeron eee pc 701 to perform a little more smoothly if I replaced XP with a console only install of a Linux OS.
I am a bit out of touch with the Linux world. I wonder if it's easy to install Debian or similar without a GUI for the purposes of running Slimserver, and some SAMBA shares? Also I have tried live distros on flash drives is it possible to install a regular distro on a 2.5 inch external hard disk?
