Dear All, As you might see from my profile - I've been a member on here for over 7 years (not as long as some I may add!). I had some great help setting up my linux server and things have just "worked" for many years! I returned to the forums as I do intermittently to see if anything exciting was happening in the Squeezebox world - only to have the wind taken from my sails when I saw that Logitech were pulling the plug on my favourite audio device. My server is running 8.04 headless - it rarely needs any intervention! I have SqueezeCenter Version: 7.2 - 22900 (very old I know but it works fine for me!) Because of the killing off of the SB I have brought forward my long desired purchase of a Touch (or 2!). This obviously needs a later version of the server.
My questions to you kind folk therefore are: Should I be upgrading the linux distro - if so to what version that people have found stable and plays nicely with the Squeezebox Server software? What version of the server (I believe this is called LMS now) should I install for the best stability? Is installing LMS in kubuntu still a matter of adding the path to the repository? If Logitech pull the complete plug on the software repositories then what file(s) do I need to download so that I have a version backed up for future installs? Sorry about all the questions, I just want to keep my system up and running for as long as possible - feel quite agrieved that Logitech had done this. Many thanks for any help you can offer Nic ------------------------------------------------------------------------ DrNic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=92 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96501 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
