I don't have a big collection but from what IIRC what other users with collections similar to yours have said - I think 13hrs for a clear & rescan means there is something wrong. I'll see if I can find a post with their timings. You should run with a later version of 7.7.x as there were performance improvements and then turn on the database optimisations for larger memory systems if you have not already done so.
