Although I mentioned "--noweb" option it was in the context that you were sure that memory is the issue. Top is a appliction which monitors all processes and give details on memory and CPU usage. So it LMS is using 100% CPU - then releasing memory may not be helpful. My gut feel is that the GoFlex has too little memory for the size of collection if you want to play music while scanning.
