Thanks. I think I found a real workaround this time...it appears the problem is prabably not directly Squeezelite related. Somebody over at the Raspberry Pi forums suggested turning off rsyslog on Squeezeplug and it seems like that helped. I haven't had a single hang since then. Might be a short term effect, but for now it appears to be working, which is great news for me.
