Michael, I already sent you a PM. I doubt it has anything to do with the writing of the image to the card. I mean, it either gets written successfully and the image boots or it'll never boot. I'm wondering if it could be that some routers are not as fast at giving out a dhcp address and that somehow stalls the boot process, which it will do due to the dependency on NetworkManager-wait-online. Would be good to have a look at those logs I've asked for before going any further.
