Did some more testing and found two issues:

1. When the Wandboard is booted up without Ethernet and no wireless then
there is an error loading the Network Manager. After plugging the
network cable in it gets an IP address but the wandboard is still not
accessible (no reply to ping, no http access). It needs to be booted
with an active Ethernet connection, either wired or wireless, in order
to have a functional device. 

2. There is an issue with the Wireless radio and hidden SSID's. When the
SSID is hidden it won’t get access to the wireless network. Only by
manually adding SCAN_SSID=1 to the ifcfg-wlan0 file will make it connect
to a wireless network with hidden SSID. Of course, this parameter gets
removed if the wireless configuration is changed through the web
interface. Maybe this parameter can be added by the code?
