Yep - I can't see why that code is there for aiff... Its clearly a hack
to get around something, but if we can't get rid of it its not easy to
work around in the server - hence the fix in the client - which is a bit
more complex than desirable due to the silly use of a floating point
format for sample rate in aiff.
