Well, I did look at the logs...... Just to throw a spanner in the works
of your theory.... Filesystems were "dirty", unclean shutdown..... (That
wasn't an issue.) But what was strange.....

Code:
--------------------

  Jan  1 01:00:25 wandboard NetworkManager[219]: <info> (wlan0): DHCPv4 state
changed preinit -> reboot
  Jan  1 01:00:25 wandboard NetworkManager[219]: <info>   address 0.0.0.0
  Jan  1 01:00:25 wandboard dhclient[284]: bound to 0.0.0.0 -- renewal in 38257
seconds.
  Jan  1 01:00:25 wandboard NetworkManager[219]: <info>   prefix 24
(255.255.255.0)
  Jan  1 01:00:25 wandboard NetworkManager[219]: <info>   gateway 192.168.1.1
  Jan  1 01:00:25 wandboard NetworkManager[219]: <info>   nameserver
'192.168.1.1'
  Jan  1 01:00:25 wandboard NetworkManager[219]: <info>   domain name 'home'

--------------------

*address 0.0.0.0*, so network wouldn't have been available, leading you
to believe that the device hadn't booted.
