The ports seem to be accessible, I can use softsqueeze without any problems at all from my laptop to the server. The one difference with softsqueeze is, that there is no requirement for an announcement broadcast. You actually key in the name of the LMS server you want to use.
On you physical squeezebox devices this is left up to auto discovery. (It would be nice to have an option of also keying in a server name here by the way.) So I think it is an issue with sending UDP/IP broadcast packages from within a jail. rgds. Nikolaj Hansen.
