Suspicion confirmed, but the in the other way as I suspected. Netcat / NC send of udp datagrams in broadcast seem to be broken? It does not set SO_BROADCAST on the sockets it creates. Anyway, NC listens just fine for broadcasts.
So using NC / socat I have confirmed that the jailed server can send broadcasts but not recieve them. Now I just have to figure out, if it is enough to make the server work on 192.168.1.255 as well as 192.168.1.22 or I have to do a complete seperate network config with vnet. rgds. Nikolaj Hansen.
