OK, then clearly we need to add a lot more silence frames. Come back to
this....

I don't know how Triode feels, and I don't speak for him...... But we
need to be careful, going down this road, adding workarounds all over
the place. There needs to be a litmus test. We should not be fixing
other peoples broken hardware in our software! We will get saddled with
a bunch of 'quirk' code for specific DAC's that causes us a maintenance
problem at some point in the future. There needs to be a test. If the
audio hardware works perfectly with another audio player, (other than
squeezelite)..... Let's say that because squeezelite when paused,
instead of closing the audio dev and then re-opening it when un-paused,
causes an issue that other audio software, that closes and re-opens the
audio device, pause -> unpause, that's one thing....

DSD and DoP isn't a mature tech compared to PCM. Not everyone copies the
spec exactly. Not every piece of hardware functions the same. I don't
want to see Triode saddled with a maintenance nightmare because of
something that he didn't need in the first place. He doesn't own a
DSD/DoP DAC. I pushed for DoP pass-through support. Since then he has
implemented native decoding in squeezelite, and those back-end changes
yesterday for DSD, were totally down to him. ie. we have him working on
functionality that he doesn't use himself. Let's all bear that in mind.

The other thing that is now obvious to me and I need to do something
about this...... Triode doesn't have DoP capability and I know this. If
he is going to continue working on this, he needs to. After I finish
typing this, I'm going to order a "chassis" from modushop, which will
allow me to case up the Amanero/Buffalo which I currently use
bread-boarded and I will send it to him. This is f**king spectacularly
stupid, expecting him to work on stuff that he has no way of testing
other than kicking it out there to us.
