Yes I take your point (I think!). Using the same clock as the Pi doesn't guarantee quality especially as a PLL (Phase-Locked Loop for others reading this) is inevitably prone to jitter. Hence buffering and reclocking with a very stable high-quality clock is likely to yield better results. At least we're talking about real engineering stuff here, not the benefits of oxygen-free cables. Ahem.
