OK, I've tried several things. First, running as root does no good. In any event, the non-root user is permissioned for the audio device. Second, using the -a :::0 command line switch does nothing in this particular instance. I tried using the ARM version of Fedora, under which squeezelite works. Fedora runs a pulse audio server, so I tried installing that on Arch as well, but no luck. Looking at the modules loaded by each distro, I can't see anything that shows that Arch isn't loading something relevant (Fedora does load a lot more modules, but none of them seem relevant to audio). Both distributions create devices in /dev/snd/ so that doesn't appear to be it. It seems that there is some other issue with the audio on Arch for armv7h on the Odroid U3 hardware. I'll see if I can get in touch with the person maintaining the distribution to see if I can sort it out. Thanks for all of the help.
